As part of Jim Anderson's lawsuit (vendetta?) against the residents and taxpayers of St. Pete Beach he had his out-of-town lawyer depose the entire current commission along with another half dozen people (or so) involved with our City.
In my opinion, Mr. Anderson does not want to recognize our Comprehensive plan nor that the majority of the voters seem to be fine with it. I am uncertain if that is because he does not understand it or if he feels that we should listen to him as opposed to a democratic majority.
At any rate, and in the spirit of transparency, I recorded the session in which I was deposed.
Mr. Anderson is costing the taxpayers of St. Pete Beach, you and I, tens of thousands of dollars to defend his selfish position and I think you should see (hear actually) the waste of time he creates as he squanders our money. In my opinion, this was a gross waste of time. I think that Anderson's lawyer even confused the reason for depositions (depositions typically are a part of the discovery process in which litigants gather information in preparation for trial) and attempted to "help" us (his opponents?), but you can listen for yourself and form your own opinion.
It was supposed to be a 30 minute deposition but it turns out to be much closer to about 20 minutes. I tell you that so that you will know that I did not chop any of it off. My recording does begin a few seconds after my swearing in because I wanted to make sure that my request to record was on the record. It begins as Anderson's lawyer asks me if I want to restart and I say no. It ends when there are no more questions. Don't be fooled by long periods of silence as that was simply Anderson's lawyer trying to think of things to ask.
