So I'm reading the
comments about Ms. Estrada's article in the Times on Sunday 31 July titled "St.
Pete Beach lawyers move to end appeals of comprehensive plan ruling" and I see
one of the comments from Ken Weiss (the lawyer responsible for most of the Comp
Plan lawsuits against us) and I see that he said:
" i [sic] have
written to the commission telling them about these issues but the only thing
they have on their mind is putting the SOLV plan in place...at any cost to the
taxpayers. The real issue is that the plan is designed to force the taxpayers
to absorb the costs of redevelopment by among other things, fixing impact fees
at below statutory levels...and a lot more."
I did not remember any
message from Mr. Weiss so I searched my City email and even my personal email address (sometimes people try to use it
even though I strongly discourage that, send them to my City account and then archive
them without responding) and could not find any such email. As always, I could be wrong but I sure couldn't
find one.
In addition, I am confused
about how our Comprehensive Plan could have successfully gone through the
Florida State Department of Community Affairs approval process and still be "fixing
impact fees at below statutory levels."
One of the flags that I
use to judge the veracity of statements is phrases such as "...and a lot more." The implication of hidden information usually
is simply a tactic to employ puffery or what is called smoke and mirrors.
