Only about 11% of St Pete Beach is land. The rest is water.
I don't think we are making that fact an outstanding part of our character.
We've talked about a marina behind the Community Center. I think that is a great.
I think that having a water taxi established to run up and down the Intercoastal waterway from one end of St Pete Beach to the other would be SPECTACULAR.
Terminals at Merry Pier, Dolphin Village, Community Center/Corey Ave., Egan park? I dunno.
Might take traffic off our streets and give access to our shops and restaurants.
Maybe continue up to TI, Madeira and points beyond.
Maybe to Gulfport, Pasadena, and even to St Petersburg? Keep day tourist cars on the mainland?
Ferry access to SPB? Full circle. During my time on our Historic Board Frank Hurley taught me that was one of the elements that established St Pete Beach.
I think this might just benefit our residents, our businesses, and our tourists.
We are a water community if there ever was one (Venice, Italy excluded).
Let's take advantage of it, promote it, and use it to our advantage.
What do you think.
